Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Where: The Free SPIRIT Barn |  W3950 WI-23 Trunk, Fond du Lac, WI 54937

Details: Every August we hold our annual fundraising event, the Free S.PI.R.I.T. Riders (FSR) Ride-A-Thon. This event is a celebration of our riders demonstrating the skills they have learned throughout their time at FSR. We host numerous activities throughout the day including riding demonstrations, a silent auction, raffles, baked bean competition, bake sale, and an annual awards ceremony. This is our largest fundraising event and we are hoping you will make it even bigger this year. Your donations will go directly towards enriching the lives of children and adults with disabilities from Fond du Lac and the surrounding area through safe, therapeutic interaction with horses.

Romeo started with Free SPIRIT Riders in 2013. He became a participant to improve his social skills, make friends, and gain confidence. He likes the games used to increase skills during classes. Romeo is friendly and enjoys interacting with staff and volunteers. He uses sounds and voices to assist with location of objects. He is learning to use reigns to direct his horse and makes an effort to sit up straight while on the horse. This will improve his posture. He loves to trot, which is helping with his balance.

Romeo was born with Optic Nerve Dysplasia and is legally blind. He uses a cane because of his impaired vision. He speaks Spanish as well as English. You can say hello to him in either language and will get a big smile!

Sheamus Fitzpatrick and the McNally Boys performances are equal parts true Irish folk music and charismatic entertainment in the likeness of Tommy Makem and the Clancy Brothers and the Dubliners.

The Multi-instrumentalists Aaron Baer (banjo, accordion, mandolin, vocals) and Jeremy Wood (guitar, tins, uillean pipes, vocals) head the band with Paul Wisneski and upright bass Jason Baer. Dale Devries (vocals) leads the crowd to become part of the show by offering bar-wide toasts and singing and dancing and with the patrons.

Matt Miller, President of Oshkosh Irish Fest states “Sheamus Fitzpatrick and the McNally Boys have been playing our festival since we started in 2009. We call them our “house” band and keep bringing them back because our crowds absolutely love them. Heart beating, foot stomping, hand clapping, and everyone singing along….this is what makes this band so great and so much fun. They have added a lot of fun to our fest.”
