ROMEO VERA NAMED HONORARY CO-CHAIR OF 25TH ANNUAL RIDE-A-THON

RomeoVeraIf Romeo Vera had his way, he would spend every minute of every day on a horse! Romeo is 7 years old and attends Riverside School where he is going into the 2nd grade.

Romeo started with Free SPIRIT Riders in 2013. He became a participant to improve his social skills, make friends, and gain confidence. He likes the games used to increase skills during classes. Romeo is friendly and enjoys interacting with staff and volunteers. He uses sounds and voices to assist with location of objects. He is learning to use reigns to direct his horse and makes an effort to sit up straight while on the horse. This will improve his posture. He loves to trot, which is helping with his balance.

Romeo was born with Optic Nerve Dysplasia and is legally blind. He uses a cane because of his impaired vision. He speaks Spanish as well as English. You can say hello to him in either language and will get a big smile!
